InRide is NOT a driving school
InRide is a peer-to-peer platform that connects licensed drivers with independent driving coaches. InRide does not employ coaches, does not issue driving licenses, and is not affiliated with any official driving school or government transportation authority. All coaches are independent individuals offering their services through the platform.
1 Information We Collect
When you use InRide, we collect the following types of information:
Account Information:
- Phone number (used for identity verification via SMS OTP)
- First name and last name
- Gender (used for women-only coach filter feature)
- City of residence
- Profile photo (optional, uploaded by user)
Coach-specific Information:
- Years of driving experience
- Vehicle information (brand, model, year, license plate)
- Weekly availability schedule
- Driver's license information
Usage Information:
- Booking history (dates, times, durations, prices)
- Session history
- Reviews and ratings
- GPS location during app use
- Device information (device type, OS version)
- Push notification token (for sending notifications)
2 How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Verify your identity via phone number OTP
- Create and manage your account
- Match learners with nearby available coaches
- Process and manage booking requests
- Calculate distances between coaches and learners
- Send push notifications about bookings, sessions, and reviews
- Display your profile to other users (coaches see learner name/location, learners see coach profile)
- Calculate coach earnings and deduct platform commission
- Improve and maintain the platform
- Resolve disputes and handle support requests
We do not use your data for advertising purposes and do not sell your personal information to third parties.
3 App Permissions
InRide requests the following device permissions. Here is exactly why each is needed:

Location (Fine & Coarse)
Required to show nearby coaches on the map, calculate distance between coach and learner, and provide pickup location when booking a session. Location is only used while the app is active.

Push Notifications
Required to notify coaches of new booking requests (with 60-second acceptance window), notify learners when bookings are accepted or declined, and send session completion reminders.

Camera & Photo Library
Required only when uploading a profile photo. We never access your camera or photos without your explicit action. This permission is optional — you can use InRide without a profile photo.

Vibration
Used to vibrate your device when a new notification arrives, improving the experience for coaches who need to respond quickly to booking requests.

Receive Boot Completed
Allows the app to restart notification services after your device reboots, ensuring coaches never miss a booking request even after restarting their phone.

Google Maps
Used to display the interactive map showing coach locations, and to enable coaches to navigate to learners' pickup locations using Waze or Google Maps directions.
You can revoke any permission at any time from your phone's Settings → Apps → InRide → Permissions. Revoking location permission will limit the app's ability to show nearby coaches.
4 Data Sharing
We share limited information between users to enable the platform to function:
- Between learners and coaches: When a booking is made, the learner's name and pickup location are shared with the coach. The coach's name, phone number, vehicle, and rating are shared with the learner.
- Firebase (Google): We use Firebase for phone number authentication (OTP) and push notifications (FCM). Firebase processes your phone number and device token.
- Google Maps Platform: We use Google Maps to display maps and coach locations. Your location may be processed by Google Maps SDK on your device.
We do not share your data with:
- Advertisers or marketing companies
- Data brokers
- Any third party for commercial purposes
We may disclose data if required by Moroccan law or a valid legal order.
5 Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Specifically:
- Account data — retained until you delete your account
- Booking history — retained for 2 years for dispute resolution purposes
- Reviews — retained as long as the coach's profile exists
- Location data — not stored on our servers; only used in real-time during app sessions
- Push notification tokens — retained until you uninstall the app or revoke permission
Upon account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.
6 Your Rights
You have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access: Request a copy of the data we hold about you
- Correction: Update your profile information at any time within the app
- Deletion: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
- Portability: Request your data in a readable format
- Objection: Object to certain types of data processing
- Withdraw consent: Revoke app permissions at any time via phone settings

7 Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data:
- All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS
- Phone authentication is handled by Firebase, which uses industry-standard OTP verification
- Profile photos are stored in secure cloud storage with restricted access
- Sensitive data (phone numbers) is never exposed in API responses unnecessarily
- Our backend is hosted on secure cloud infrastructure

8 Children's Privacy
InRide is intended for users who are 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18.
To use InRide as a learner, you must hold a valid driver's license, which requires being of legal driving age in Morocco (18+). To register as a coach, you must be an experienced adult driver.
If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will immediately deactivate their account and delete their data.
9 Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do:
- We will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page
- We will notify you via push notification or in-app message for significant changes
- Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy
We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
